About Katie

Cooking and acting, my two great passions, have more in common that you might immediately think.  They are both about performance; whether in front of an audience or in the heat of the kitchen, I am judged by people on what I produce.

Cooking came first;  at just 20, I left cookery college with a Cordon Bleu Diploma to begin my career in London as a freelance caterer.  I had a little Bedford Rascal van with my name painted on the side, and toured the city catering Directors’ lunches, canapé parties, big events, small teas, breakfasts;  you name it, I was there.  Some of my clients included Elaine Page, Sir Patrick Mayhew and London Wine Merchants Berry Bros & Rudd, and my irreverent style and well-executed food won me hearts and palates across the capital.

To feed a lifelong ambition, at 25, I secured a place at The Poor School for Drama in London, a night school; This allowed me to continue to loyally cater for my clients.

I was fortunate enough to be plucked from college to star alongside Joanna Lumley and Emily Mortimer in ‘Coming Home’, a wartime drama in two parts. Cast as Lumley and the late Peter O’Toole’s daughter, Loveday, my leading role was reprised the following year in ‘Nancherrow’.  I was fortunate to work with such a great cast and director at the beginning of my career.

More TV roles followed, including parts in ‘Heartbeat’, ‘Holby City’, 'Doctors' and ‘The Cater Street Hangman’, where I starred opposite a young Keeley Hawes.  If you are interested, my acting website is katieryderrichardson.com.

The other production I'm particularly proud of are my two sons Alfie and Harvey

whose energy and obsession with football ensures we all get plenty of fresh air and exercise, and of course Twig our Golden Doodle who features in lots of my posts.

Katie catered a buffet at a corporate event that we were holding for 200 people.

We couldn’t have asked for more. Katie was very professional and hands on. The food was superb, it was fresh, tasty, and plentiful.

Everybody who attended commented on how good the food was. To be honest, I think it made the event!! We would definitely recommend Katie for any event, from a small corporate event, to a large wedding, and would definitely use her services again.
